I am almost embarrassed to say , while bending over to tie my shoes Thursday morning , I dropped to my knees in pain.

The motion of bending straight over just wrecked my lower back.

I'm talking about the area right in the middle of your lower back , down above your tail bone.

Never felt this much pain in my life. Hope its gone within a week.

Getting out of a chair is almost impossible.

Anybody do this kind of damage before ?

Very common in Men over 60. I suggest heating pad 3 times a day, hour at a time. Then before going to bed, drop a brick on your foot, you'll forget about the back pain.

Best of luck.

I suggest stretching.

Lay on your stomach on the floor and slowly lift your head, then chest, off the ground. Arch your back and use your hands to balance yourself. (almost like you are doing a pushup). Also push your pelvis in the floor almost like you want to give Mika Tan one hard thrust but hold it) do this slowly and hold it and try to arch more and push your pelvis into the floor more. Sorry it sounds like a really sexual thing but it works well. Do this several times a day.

Next stretch is laying on your stomach and slowly lift one of your legs in the air with your leg straight and hold it. then try to lift it higher and hold it. do both sides

use a heating pad several times a day

no sex for 12 weeks

no masturbation for 22 weeks.

should be doing better in a couple of months

we will reevaluate you then

probably a herniated disc...

had surgery for it 2 years ago.

it finally was into a nerve so bad that I had to crawl to get around the day before surgery.

physical therapy might help you....if that doesnt work for you...you will probably need to be cut on.

the reason i dont think its a disc problem is because i actually went and played golf 1 hour after it happened.

i was scheduled to play at 10 , hurt it at 8:30 or so but felt like i could make a golf turn with my shoulders.

it hurt getting in and out of the cart , but didnt feel it when i swung.

i couldnt play golf today if i was paid a thousand bucks.

i know it was stupid to go ahead and play , but it only hurts when i get up and sit down or try and get out of bed.

i can see how mlb players end up the 15 day dl with lower back strain now.

WNO,
Having just broken up with an ex that was a certified massage therapist, I can not say enough good things about massage. I would highly recommend a deep tissue massage. I never had a massage before being with her and the effects are incredible. Because of how my apartment is setup, I did a lot of things that put a terrible strain on my back and I always felt it. But I got used to it and it wasn't a big deal until it finally caught up to me after months of living like this. After her hands worked on me it was incredible how free and loose my back felt.

You'll probably be looking at $60-$75 per hour, but it is well worth it and can in fact be addictive. When I was back home in PA, I was getting one every week. Highly recommended.

I dont think I could take a massage right now. That would be way to painful.

Maybe in a few weeks.

When I'm up and walking around , it doesnt feel that bad. It hurts , but i can deal with it.

Getting in and out of a chair is the most painful thing I have ever had to do right now..

Yeah, starting off with a Swedish massage is the way to go. Gets the muscles used to the feeling of being torn just a bit and will really do wonders for your circulation. Then you can move up to a deep tissue. It can be painful at first but the effects are definitely more long term.

WNO, I get pain there occasionaly. Not to that degree though.

It pisses me off, becuase I have no clue why it happens. Or what caused it.

My right shoulder hurts sometimes, but I think I threw it out doing too much weight on Shrugs or overhead press back when I lifted.

Suffering from the exact same ailment right now. Ironically enough after golfing last Thursday and Friday. Could not walk all day Saturday and Sunday morning. Getting a little better as I am using heat on my back AND my hamstrings, Naproxen (Aleve), Flexerall (muscle relaxer) and was just prescribed a steroid. It is muscles spasming around your sciatic joint that has probably been knocked out of place, kinda like a ball and socket joint in your hip or shoulder. The muscles spasm around it trying to protect it and Oillaaaa...pain out the ass. I aslo have a Prolign back brace by DeRoyal and has been helping out also. Good luck, I do not want to have surgery!

your's sounds a little worse than mine.

it has been 1 week and mine is still a little tender.

i was incapable of doing anything for the first 3 days . noticed maybe a 10 % better feeling on monday and then 10 % a day from then on.

still only about 60 % right now.

hopefully within another week i'll be back to normal.

very painful situation.

Do you have any numbness down your right leg?? If so, you probably herniated a disc. I had part of my disc removed a few years ago and it was outpatient....feels like someone "turned the electricity off." When I first started feeling pain, what happened to me, happened to you....all of a sudden a sharp pain and I couldnt stand up....it would come and go....finally, after a few years, couldnt take it anymore...went to an orthopedic surgeon and now am 90% better, no fusing of disks or anything...best of luck

My back is screwed up too...worried it's an HD. Pain is unbearable at times. First few steps I walk like i'm an 80 year old man, half hunched over. I can't stand up without grabbing something, have to sit down to put on shorts/pants, brace myself if I'm going to cough or sneeze. If I step off a curb wrong I will collapse to my knees. Whale...I've done the crawling thing too.

Just went to have x-rays done and will meet with the doctor to assess. I've heard really bad things about back surgery but it sounds like the two of you above have had success with it.
